About Shandy’s Campaign Platform

District 1 of Jacksonville Beach needs creative leadership that’s intimately familiar with the needs of families and businesses alike. Learn more below on why I’m running for Seat 4, District 1.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Strategic Growth

Jax Beach is undeniably growing, which is excellent, but the question is “Are we growing in a way that is sustainable for our children and grandchildren?” I feel we are not growing in a way that is going to result in Jax Beach being the community that it is now in the future. My solution is to look at land and development codes and conduct an audit of them. I believe we may need to update them such that it will meet our needs for sustainable growth and keep us financially secure. I have been an advocate for holding builders and the city accountable on various requests for many years and, if elected, I will ensure that our board members are trained and educated on land and development codes and ordinances will be key to guaranteeing this sustainable growth for our children and grandchildren.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Investment in the Community

As the representative for District One, I will work to allocate funds to enrich our district and our beach community. I intend to allocate more resources for more sidewalks, safer bike paths, flashing lights for school zones, more crosswalks, and better upkeep in our city owned assets. Additionally, if approved by the community, I’ll advocate for underground powerlines so that we can keep power during hurricanes and bad weather. Not only is this good for storms it is also a safety precaution, this will be safer for our linemen and maintenance is lower on underground powerlines. In the long run we save money by doing this while also making our beach more aesthetically pleasing. I believe we can do this all while maintaining a fiscally conservative budget.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Public Safety

Public safety has become the hot topic around Jax Beach. I want to ensure that our residents and visitors feel safe in our community. By listening to your concerns, I and the city council can help guide the police on where their efforts need to be. Whether it be cracking down on speeding, levying code enforcement for violations, or working with our downtown businesses and CAPE officers, we can all help keep the community safer by speaking up about where we may need to concentrate resources.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”100px”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
